File extension XPS stands for XML Paper Specification. Developed by Microsoft and formerly known as Metro, XPS provides specifications for a document’s printing layout and appearance. In design, XPS has similarities with PDF but the PostScript language that it is based on is XML. To open XPS files, XPS Viewer which is available with Windows Vista to open this files.
